Excellent Agricultural Education since 1995
Join us at the Roots of Bruce April 18 and 19, 2024.
Walkerton Agriculture buildings.
206 Durham St. W. Walkerton ON N0G 2V0
Our day will begin at 9:45 and end at 2:15, with a 35 minute lunch break. Only 300 students will be allowed each day. Register now! We will accept the first 300 on a ‘first come, first served’ basis with preference to schools that did not attend last year. All students in grade 5 are encouraged to come. Split classes – grades 4/5 and 5/6 – are also welcome.
Congratulations to Addison MacDermid, a grade 3 student at St. Joseph Catholic School in Port Elgin. She created the logo design seen here, and is the contest winner of $100.00. There were about 30 entries to choose from, and we thank all those who entered. Your enthusiasm spurs us on to continue spreading the good news about agriculture today!
Our Mission: The Roots of Bruce Project serves to raise an awareness of the importance of our agricultural community, food production and supporting industries in Bruce County for grades five students and teachers.
Our Objective: To develop in each student an understanding and an appreciation for the production and marketing of food and the sustainable practices to manage our natural resources.
Our Goal: To establish a practice of choosing healthy food that will contribute to the total well-being and long-term health of each participant for the benefit of our entire community.
The Roots of Bruce is endorsed by both the Bluewater District School Board and the Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board.
