For Teachers

The agriculture and commodity groups and the Roots of Bruce committee invite grade five students to the Roots of Bruce 2024 program. It will be held on Thursday, April 18th and Friday, April 19th at the Walkerton Agricultural Buildings, 206 Durham St. W. Walkerton. Schools are now being offered the opportunity to come for a full day, at a cost per student of $5.00 per day.  Please be aware that no supervision will be provided for the 35-minute lunch break.  Bring everything you need for lunch.  Students, teachers, and chaperones will eat lunch in the room above the arena.

The day provides the students an excellent opportunity to explore relevant topics concerning local food, food safety and good nutrition while speaking with the primary producers. While the students are engaged, there will be a short workshop for the teaching staff on the resources available from Ontario Agri-Food Education.

Cost is now $5.00 per student, plus transportation. If possible, share the bus with a neighbouring school. There is no charge for teachers and volunteers.

All principals and trustees are invited to attend this event. They are also invited to join us for a hot lunch provided by the Bruce County Women’s Institutes.

We look forward to your students attending and thank you for your interest.
